- Wissotzky, Kalonymos Ze'ev
(1824-1904)
Russian merchant, philanthropist, and Zionist. He was born in Zhagare. In 1858 he moved to Moscow and established a tea firm. An active supporter of Hibbat Zion, he visited Palestine, where he supported religious settlers, and contributed to the foundaton of the Haifa Technion. He founded the Hebrew monthly Ha-Shiloah in 1896.
